Survival Of The Film Freaks, the co-directed documentary from Bill Fulkerson (Outside The Cinema) and Kyle Kuchta (Fantasm) has itself a new trailer.

Featuring interviews from cult favorites such as Ted Raimi and Joe Bob Briggs, as well as up-and-comers Jackson Stewart and Kurando Mitsutake, Film Freaks recaps cult cinema’s evolution from the 60s and 70s up until the present. A trip down memory lane of grindhouse theaters and video stores turns into an exploration of how the current digital age has changed the way we receive and perceive cult films.

Film Freaks had its World Premiere in August at HorrorHound Weekend, Indianapolis, where it was nominated for Best Picture, and received the Best Movie and Best Documentary awards at the UNDO Divergent Film Awards in September. This October is filled with a handful of festival dates, so you can catch the documentary at any of the following, with more to come!

How does cult cinema survive and thrive in the 21st century? This notion will be explored when Survival of the Film Freaks has its World Premiere at HorrorHound Weekend Film Festival (#H2F2), August 24th-26th in Indianapolis, IN.

Joe Bob Briggs, Ted Raimi and Adam Green are just a few of the familiar faces that you’ll see in this documentary that is both a love letter to and in-depth study of “cult.”

“It’s a wonderful, full-circle feeling,” says co-director Kyle Kuchta. “Bill and I both started our respective professional careers at horror conventions; that’s actually how we met. So to be able to premiere our film at one of the biggest conventions in the country feels amazing.”

Kuchta was directing Fantasm, a documentary about horror conventions when he met Bill, the host of the cult film podcast Outside The Cinema.

“Ever since I was a young kid I always remember being fascinated by the idea of weird and wonderful films,” Fulkerson states. “So after over two years of work, it’s really exciting to premiere the flick, especially for a group of like-minded individuals. It makes me happier than the VHS box art for The Barbarians.”

Film Freaks will be premiering in good company that weekend. #H2F2 will also include the world premiere of the Joe Dante-produced Camp Cold Brook, screenings of horror favorites Jason Goes To Hell and The Lost Boys, and more. Film Chest recently released information that their latest film "4/20 Massacre" will be getting a Los Angeles theatrical release. Tromeo and Juliet is a selection by MoMa Film curators for Breaking Bard: Shakespeare on Film, a film screening program scheduled to run through mid-October (Oct. 12-24) in tribute to the Bard ("Poet"), William Shakespeare, on the 400th anniversary since his death. The screenings are intended to both commemorate the playwright as well as present a series of films from all genre and throughout history since the inception of cinema that are influenced by Shakespeare's Comedies, Tragedies and Histories.

Troma's Tromeo and Juliet is a Shakespearean time-capsule of New York City late in the 20th Century. The carefully crafted retro feel to Hectic Knife is a reverential nod to cinematic symbolism, and film archetypes are referenced throughout the course of the movie. The first ever TROMAmerican Summer 2016- FESTIVAL OF FREE!!, a three month Thursday night Summer calendar event featuring rare Troma movie screenings as well as live performance art, including rock-n-roll music and go-go dancers, on a series of lineups curated by the Troma Team, it was announced today by Lloyd Kaufman, prexy of Troma Entertainment and creator of The Toxic Avenger.

The three Thursday evening dates confirmed on the Calendar for the Festival are slated to be held at Brooklyn Venue and Screening room Lucky 13 Saloon, and each night the Troma Team will spin a soiree to Showcase Strange and Unusual Spectaculars from Tromaville alongside musicians of a shared spirit! Opening night for the TROMAmerican Summer 2016 FESTIVAL OF FREE at Lucky 13 will be dedicated to the memorial for recently deceased, longtime beloved Troma actor, Joe Fleishaker, who died May 24th, 2016 at 62 years old. The actor was a key player in a number of landmark Troma productions including Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV , Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead and Terror Firmer. This first TROMAmerican Summer will be hosted by Lloyd Kaufman alongside his creation and recent webisode sensation, Sgt. Kabukiman, N.Y.P.D, roommate of Doug Sakmann.

To honor the loss in Tromaville, the Troma Family has selected Terror Firmer (1999), Lloyd Kaufman's avante-garde and surreal genre blending dark comedy that takes place on set of a fictional Troma film. Kaufman, who plays a blind director in the movie attempting to keep his film afloat despite real world violence that invades his set, loosely based Terror Firmer on his best-selling book, All I Needed to Know about Filmmaking I Learned from The Toxic Avenger. When a serial killer starts taking out the production team and actors on set, spilled guts and gags run riot. Mark Cummings of Film Topics described Terror Firmer as "Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer' meets 'Living in Oblivion' through the eyes of Frank Carpa." After the movie there will be a live musical numbers T.B.A. later in this week.

Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 7:30 pm, 17 year old director Kansas Bowling will present for the first time ever on the silver screen, a world premiere of her feature length cavewoman slasher comedy, B.C. Butcher. The event will be the inaugural theatrical screening for the American Cinematheque's new film program, "Women Underground". "Women Underground", part of the new SHEspectives Initiative at The American Cinematheque, showcases the Los Angeles premieres of new independent, underground feature length cinema from innovative and taste-making new female filmmakers. The premiere was announced today by the American Cinematheque.

B.C. Butcher, which was shot on 16 mm film in Bowling's father's backyard in Topanga Canyon, California, stars Kato Kaelin and features Rodney "The Mayor of Sunset Strip" Bingenheimer. Bingenheimer, along with B.C. Butcher's Executive Producer and the president of Troma Entertainment, Lloyd Kaufman, are also scheduled to make appearances at the premiere. Troma Entertainment, which has selected Bowling's B.C. Butcher for distribution, is one of the longest-running independent movie studios in the country and the creator of world-famous movie classics like, The Toxic Avenger, Tromeo & Juliet and Return to Nuke 'Em High Volume 1.

The film will be screened alongside another brilliantly crafted female directed Troma film, Lollilove, by star of smash television comedy show The Office and the upcoming new series, You, Me and the Apocalypse, Jenna Fischer. On Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at 6 pm, The Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY will be hosting a focus-group screening of Troma Entertainment's most recent work-in-progress movie, Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High AKA Volume 2", it was announced today by the Film and Video Department of The Pratt Institute. The screening will be open to the public and members of the Pratt community.

Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High aka Volume 2 is the second half of Lloyd Kaufman's opus maximus that follows lesbian lovers Lauren and Chrissy though the mutant mayhem unleashed in Tromaville High, by corporate greed and contaminated tacos in the school cafeteria. Return to Nuke 'Em High Volume 1, the first half of Kaufman's 3 hour project was premiered by the Museum of Modern Art in the prestigious "Contenders Series" and described by The New York Times as, "powered by ribald bursts of bad taste and bodily fluid. The overall effect is (sic) joyous".

Like Troma's grand guignol classics The Toxic Avenger, Tromeo and Juliet, and Poultrygeist, Return to Return to Nuke 'Em High aka Volume 2 is a cuisinart of satire and genres filled with graphic adult scenes and cartoon inspired gore.

The focus-group screening is intended to procure critical feedback from a Brooklyn audience. "The audience will help make our movie better", says Kaufman. Attendees will be asked to complete a survey with specific questions pertaining to this latest iteration of the movie as it nears completion.
