Press Release:

Revelator Films and Maxim Media Marketing today released the latest trailer for J. Van Auken’s high-concept, lo-fi ghost story Revelator. The film will premiere at on August 25 at Laemmle Music Hall in Beverly Hills, while the film’s digital and DVD launch comes courtesy of Maxim Media Marketing on September 5th with Blu-Ray to follow.

Starring J. Van Auken, Mindy Rae, Alex Klein, Greg Lucey, Josh Robert Thompson, Nicholas Thurkettle and Phil Miler, Revelator is a visually stylized take on the ghost story genre. Described as a mixture of Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and The Sixth Sense, Revelator is a twisted look into the arcane world just beneath the surface of our own, blending elements of horror, mystery and thriller genres in a new, exciting way.

“This film has been a long time coming for me and is truly a labor of love for myself and the cast,” said Van Auken. “I’m looking forward to our theatrical and VOD release and sharing it with audiences.”

The film centers around John Dunning (Van Auken), a disgraced psychic detective who is thrust into the midst of the mysterious Bellvue family empire—whose future fortunes rely on a vast secret island cache of water—and must investigate the suspicious death of the troubled Jacob (Nicholas Thurkettle), the last heir to the family fortune, while being dogged by a suspicious journalist (Mindy Rae) and a feckless, ruthless young family member Elias (Alex Klein). When John is accused of the murder that he himself is investigating, he must venture into the depths of madness to uncover the truth about the family and their power, before he loses his mind, his life - or worse.

A cinematographer and colorist, Van Auken has worked on dozens of films in both capacities. The film’s visual style is stylized, graphic, gritty and as it takes in both industrial, seaward headlands and desert locations. REVELATOR takes its name from the traditional blues/gospel song "John the Revelator" based on the apocalyptic last book of the New Testament, the Book of Revelation. The song has been widely recorded over nearly a hundred years, from Blind Willie Johnson’s 1930 recording to contemporary versions from Warren Haynes (Gov’t Mule) and the Forest Rangers, whose rendition graced the soundtrack for the hit TV series "Sons of Anarchy." The film closes with a performance of the song, which samples an original recording by Son House, and is performed by J. Van Auken.

"Feed the Light" Blu-Ray Review

David Lynch’s recent relaunch of “Twin Peaks” has gotten me into the mood of watching films that have a very surrealist and bizarre tone to them. My renewed interested in surrealistic films coupled with the fact that the film is based on the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Colour Out of Space”, it was safe to say that I needed to check out not caring if this is a Swedish horror film or the fact that it has subtitles . I was seeing this no matter what.

The film is about a mother who is looking for her daughter after she is taken from her by her ex-husband. She tracks them to an institution where unexplained things are happening causing people to disappear. What she finds is an underworld that feeds off people as its trying and turning everything into darkness. Can she find a way to escape with her daughter before she is trapped in the darkness forever?

Going into “Feed the Light”, as I was expecting this to be one of those films that would grab me since it’s the tone and the looked so surreal. I enjoyed this film a lot. This was easily one of the most surreal films that I’ve seen this year as it’s a very dark and haunting film.

One of the reasons that I enjoyed this was the cinematography and directing from Henrik Moller. He does a very good job creating this surreal world through the way he approaches his screenplay and the way that he films the scenes. It helped gives this film a very bizarre tone that helps make the action work and how the images are seen. Also, I liked how he’s able to make sure the pictures has a film has a bleak black and white feel to them with splashes of bloody red for most of the film. This help added to film’s gothic and bizarre tone. Muller also does a good job with the way that he directs the cast. He makes sure that his cast has this frantic and dark tone to their performances. It helps drive home the film’s action and makes this a surreal experience.

The screenplay written by Moller and Martin Jirham does very good job making sure the screenplay focuses on its main character. Whether it’s her struggle to find her daughter to her struggles to survive, they do a good job making sure that she is the focus. This made the story very interesting. The other thing that I liked about the screenplay was the fact that they makes sure that the surrealism makes sense with the story. Sometimes I’ll see films were the surrealism makes you feel like you’re lost and don’t know what’s going on. This film doesn’t do that as it sticks to the film’s story and makes sense with what happens.

The blu-ray doesn't have many features as it has a behind the scenes featurette that features interviews from the cast and crew and “The Lovecraft Influence” an interview with director Henrik Moller.

This is definitely a film that you should check out, if you’re into surreal horror. “Feed The Light” is a surreal trip that you should check out.

("She Kills", "Clay") and produced by Jonathan Straiton ("Night of Something Strange"), Tim Ritter (“Truth or Dare”, “Killing Spree”) and Howard Gromero (“Ms Cannibal Holocaust”).

When Frank (Trey Harrison) finds his happy home under attack by a dangerous but largely unknown breed of shark, he's enlists the aid of the world's only "House Shark" Expert, Zachary (Michael Merchant), and a grizzled former real estate agent, Abraham (Wes Reid), to embark on a desperate quest to destroy the beast and claim back his life. It's JAWS in a house!

The b-movie spoof pays loving homage not just to “Jaws” but also many of the early movies of Steven Spielberg. “I used to play act out JAWS in our yard as a kid,” comments Bonk, “so I made this movie with that mentality. Like if I was a kid with a camera, this would have been my attempt to make a shark movie, but with all the juvenile humor that comes with being a kid. Sort of like ‘Hardware Wars’ was to ‘Star Wars’, ‘House Shark’ would have been to “Jaws”.

The movie also stars Wayne W. Johnson, Nathan Bonk, Melissa LaMartina, Jennie Russo, Samantha Varga, Edward Mastin and Brett Janeski. SPFX were created by Marcus Koch and Matthew Ash, and the score is being composed by Emmett Van Slyke. The movie is expected to finish post-production in the fall, and after a short film festival run will hit VOD then wide release in Spring 2018 (look for a physical media to debut right around June 20th, the same date “Jaws” hit theaters back in 1975).
