Best of 2020: June aReport

I’m back with my monthly look of the best films of 2020. I’ve currently at 22 films for the year so from now on you will only see my top 20 list. It’s going to formatted in a way that you only get my thoughts on new films that are major or hit the top 10 so I don’t have to spend countless number of time talking about every new film I saw in a given month.

New films in the top 10.

Three films enter the top 10 this month

3. Scare Package

We start off with Scare Package which enter my at 3. It’s a film that you should check. I won’t talk about this one because I talk about on the next episode of my podcast which comes out this week.

6. Blood Machines

Now this is a short film but I already one short film released by Wild Eye Entertainment on the list so that is the reason it’s on this list. This film has some very great visuals to along with the action to makes this entertaining. This is mostly on the sci-fi side of there but it enough horror related imagery to be considered on this list. I hate the way that Shudder has handled this short film as they broke it up into three episodes.”

9. 10/31 Part 2

This is the second one in the 10/31 series. It’s better than the last as all the segments are very good. If I had to say which was the best, it was easily Drew Marvick’s Overkill.

Notable films that made the list.

Other films that debuts on the list were major included Shudder’s Confessional which debut at 11 as this was a very different thriller in which all of the suspects are trapped in separate rooms and one of them is pulling the strings. And Z also from shudder which will do down as one of the dullest films that I’ve seen all year as the lead performances weren’t there to keep me interested the story as this film misses the top 20 all together and ends at 21 next to the dreadful Verotika at 22.

Episode 44 with Guest Sarah French

Anthony T is back and ranting away as he goes on an epic rant regarding the worst film of 2020 Glenn Danzig's "Verotika". It so bad that its the longest What's Anthony T's Watching segment ever and guaranteed to be the worst film of 2020. But before that, he interviews actress Sarah French about her latest film "Rootwood" and a couple of her upcoming projects.

Best of 2020: May Rankings

Last month, yours truly watched seven more horror films. and there is a major shakeup in my top 5 horror films of 2020.

The Top 5:

Coming in number 5 is We Summon the Darkness. The film dropped 3 spots for last month.

Number 4 is Troma's "Mutant Blast". The craziest non Lloyd Kaufman troma film ever. I talk about that more in episode 43 of the podcast.

Number 3 is "VFW". This is a blood soaked action packed horror film that stars Stephen Lang, William Sadler, Martin Kove and  Fred Williamson.

Number 2 is a horror documentary that has the same vibes as the Kane Hodder documentary "To Hell and Back" as "Scream Queen, My Nightmare on Elm Street". The documentary goes into the career NOES2 actor Matt Patton as he tries to makes peace with his past. This is must horror documentary that people should especially NOES 2 fans. It's currently out on DVD and hits shudder June 4th.

Number 1 is Richard Stanley's The Color Out of Space still at.Number 1.

Other notable films that was added to the list.

April: Best of 2020 Rankings

It's the first ranking of the best horror films of 2020 over here on Anthpny T's Horror Chamber's official website which will happen every third week here on this site. I will also be going my favorite films of 2020 overall on Film-Arcade.net on the first of every month. With that I will talk about the top 3 films of 2020. Sorry, I only started off with eight films but hope to double it next month.

I'll start off with my favorite of 2020 so far. The Color of Space. Based on an H.P. Minecraft story, the film is the first narative feature Richard Stanley since 1992's Dust Devil. This a film that will be on my list at year's. Whether it's Stanley's direction or the great special effects. This film is one of the entertaining and dark films that I've seen all year. I would love to Stanley tackle another H.P Minecraft story in the future.

The number two film on the list is the recently released "We Summon the Darkness". I'm the mist of various Satanic films like "Deathgasm" and "Satanic Panic" that have been released in the last four years, this is most darkest film of them all. The film is an intense film that keeps your interest. Whether it's The action or the acting, this is a very good film that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The final film that I'm going to talk about is "Snatchers" This is very fun horror comedy The film has very good direction,, good acting and the humor works very well. It also does a very good making sure keeps humour and gory tone through. It worth checking out.

Here's recap of the list so far.

1. The Color of Space
2. We Summon the Darkness
3. Snatchers
4. Her Name Was Christa
5. Slaughterhouse Slumber Party
6. The Devil's Machine (aka Automata)
7. The Girl in the Crawlspace
8. Shed
