Review: "Don't Fuck in the Woods"

I’ve seen many horror films with weird titles over the years. Titles like “Pink Eye” “There’s Nothing Out There” and most recently “Bed of the Dead. Nothing compares to the film I’m reviewing here today “Don’t Fuck in the Woods”. Yes, I said “Don’t Fuck in the Woods”. This might be weirdest and most ballsy title that I've ever seen. With a title like that, I had to check this film out.

The film is about a woman (Brittney Blanton) and her girlfriend (Ayse Howard)  who go on a camping trip with their after the rigors of final exams. They go into the woods for some fun and relaxation. Unbeknownst to them, someone or something is stalking the group and it’s out for blood. Can they find their way out of the woods before it’s too late?

Going into “Don’t Fuck in the Woods”, I was going into the film thinking that this would be more of a slasher film. But it wasn’t that as this feel more of a grindhouse/creature feature film. Still, this was one hell of a time as I was into this film from start to finish.

Writer/director Shawn Burkett does a very good job making sure the film moves at a good pace. Whether it’s the way that he directs the dialogue scenes to handling the film’s action and gore effects, everything is done in a way that it keeps you interested and entertained. The other thing that I liked about it was the fact that he makes sure his cast does a very good job making their characters entertaining. Films like this usually tends to have an annoying character or two due to either direction. This film doesn’t as Burkett does a good job making sure the performances are good enough to make you interested in the story and the characters.

Burkett’s screenplay does a good job making sure that the screenplay is entertaining throughout. I liked the way he blends in various grindhouse elements along with elements from various creature features films from the past. It helped make the story and action entertaining. The other thing that I liked about the screenplay was the way the characters were interesting. Burkett does a very good job making sure the dialogue is good enough that it keeps you interested. It helped me become interested with this film as the characters were likable and made me more interested in the action especially towards the end.

This is definitely a film that you should check out if you’re a fan of the B movie creature feature variety. “Don’t Fuck in the Woods” will make you think twice before into the woods as this was pure fun from start to finish.
