2018 Scare-A-Con: New England Preview

It’s that time of the year where the convention season goes into high gear will all these conventions popping up. Scare-A-Con: New England will be convention number 3 for me this year as I was a part of the disaster known as Monster Mania 39 and also attended a non-horror related convention which I had a good time.

A brief history about Scare-A-Con: New England. This will be the third year in a row that I will be going to that convention and I have to say that this is my favorite convention that I look forward to every year. The first two years of the convention took place in Springfield, MA. This year, it’s moving to a different location. The convention will be taking place on June 16th and 17th at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in Framingham, MA.

This year’s headliners are Elvira herself, Cassandra Peterson and Holliston star and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snyder. Other guests include Danny Lloyd (The Shining), Doug Bradley (Hellrasier), Tom Savini (Dawn of the Dead), Amy Steel (Friday the 13th: Part 2), David Naughton (An American Werewolf in London), Kelli Maroney (Night of the Comet), Lynn Lowery (Shivers) and Scare-A-Con Ambassadors Mark Patton (A Nightmare on Elm Street 2), Jason Lively (Night of the Creeps), Ricky Dean Logan (Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare), Sean Whalen (The People Under the Stairs) and Author Mike Aloisi (The Killer and I).

The film program for Scare-A-Con: New England is headlined by the premiere of the creature feature “Exposure” starring Lynn Lowry on Saturday night at 7pm. Other films that are a part of the film program includes "4/20 Massacre" and "Circus of the Dammed" also headline. The film program will also include classic films starring some of guests at this convention as well.

The events schedule is packed with panels from most of the guests including Tom Savini, Doug Bradley, Sean Whalen, Danny Lloyd, Jason Lively, David Naughton, Amy Steel and Dee Snider depending on his availability.

There will also be various themed panels that will be happening during the course of the weekend as well. Panels include Horror Podcasting 101, Horror Writing 101, Indie Filmmaking 101 with filmmakers Mike Neel & Garo Nigoghossian , Horror Movie Makeup Roundup, Becoming a Horror Author, Scream Queens Panel with Lynn Lowry and Kelli Maroney, another Indie Film Making panel, Freddy’s Victims with Mark Patton and Ricky Dean Logan, and Horror Merchandising.

The Dorkening will also have a couple of events too. First, there will be a live podcast broadcast on Sunday at 10 am in which I will also be a part of for better or worse. LOL. Also, there will be Wolfman Trivia at 1pm. Preregistration will be required to participate .

You want parties, there will be 2 of them. First at 8pm is the VIP party at the Ashland Room. The only way that you get in is you must have a VIP Pass then at 10:30 PM  the Scare-A-Con 1980’s Monster Party for all admission holders with 80’s hair band Flux Capacitor.

Finally, there will be two costume contests. A costume contest for adults on Saturday at 3:30 pm and for the children on Sunday at 1pm to wrap things up. For the complete list of times, you can visit the schedule page at: http://www.scareacon.con/schedule-ne

I will be posting pics and updates over at the horror chamber’s twitter page at www.twitter.com/HorrorChamber1 and Instagram @thehorrorchamber. Please give both those pages a like as that's where my coverage will be this weekend. Also, I'll be back next week with my thoughts on Scare-A-Con:New England.

Out of all the con I go to, Scare-A Con: New England is the most fun convention out of all of them. There is no reason for you not be there this weekend, if you’re in the New England area and love horror as it’s going to be one hell of a time.
